What does this mean for your rate per post?

The minimum wage is only the first line of your cost. On top of it you pay a reliever for 7-day posts, employer PF, ESI and bonus, uniform and your service charge, and GST goes on the bill. Where a state notifies monthly rates, the daily figure is the monthly rate ÷ 26; where it notifies daily rates, the monthly figure is the daily rate × 26.

When are the rates revised?

A special VDA is declared twice a year, on 1 April and 1 October, at ₹2.60 per point increase in the Consumer Price Index for industrial workers (base 2016=100).

What should you note about these rates?

• The notification gives one daily rate including VDA for each skill level, the same in all 91 scheduled employments. It does not split the rate into basic and VDA, so the tables show the whole rate.
• The rate from 1 April 2026 adds ₹10 a day of VDA to the earlier rate including VDA (for example unskilled ₹462 + ₹10 = ₹472).
• Rates are notified per day; monthly figures here are the daily rate × 26.
• A VDA revision from 1 October 2026 may be notified later; check the labour directorate's notifications page.
