Minimum wages in Maharashtra

What does the minimum wage in Maharashtra depend on?

Like other states, Maharashtra fixes minimum wages separately for each type of work (such as security services, shops and establishments, or construction), for each skill level (unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, highly skilled), and often for different zones. Rates usually have a basic part and a VDA that is revised from the cost of living, often twice a year. Read the current notification for the category, skill and zone of each site.

What should you know before you check the rates?

• The Commissioner of Labour, Maharashtra publishes dearness allowance under the minimum wages for half-year periods (for example "January to June 2026" on its notifications page).
• On 8 October 2026 the department website did not carry the notification for July to December 2026, and the January to June 2026 file linked there could not be opened, so no rates are shown here yet.
• Maharashtra also has security boards for security staff; the department's notifications page carries a separate procedure (dated 27 March 2025) for registering security staff with them. Check whether a board covers your site.
